The International Shotokan-Ryu Karate-do Shihankai (ISKS) is a non-profit, apolitical group who will, through its technical committee, ratify/grade those individuals from 5th Dan (Godan) and above, who are accepted into fellowship.  Entry into the Shihankai can be from any country or association but will only be through the recommendation and therefore the auspices of an existing fellow. The Shihankai will also award, where it is deemed appropriate, the Shogo (titles) of Renshi, Kyoshi and Hanshi in line with the Federation of All Japan Karate-Do Organisation’s (FAJKO) directive of March 1971.  This is also currently in line with the use of Shogo by other Shotokan groups through their senior Japanese instructors. Certification and accreditation with the ISKS shows a high standard of proficiency in Shotokan karate, which is appreciated and ratified by ones peers. The following BSKI senior instructors are in fellowship/hold office in the ISKS: Sensei Charles Gidley 7th Dan Kyoshi (ISKS Technical Director), Sensei George Carruthers 7th Dan Kyoshi, (ISKS Chairman).   Sensei Ged Moran 7th Dan Kyoshi (ISKS Technical Secretary) and Sensei Eddie Dickson  6th Dan Renshi (Fellow).  Fellows of the ISKS are senior national and international figures.
